●毎回どんなデザインになるかファンを楽しませてくれるこのアルバムのジャケットデザインは、"Regional Map"と呼ばれています。シカゴ近郊の地図になっていて、シカゴ地方マップという感じです。１９７７年にリリースされると、ビルボード６位に達して、２０週間もチャート入りし、プラチナ・ディスクになりました。

●Chicago XIは、テリー・キャスがギターを弾いて歌う最後のアルバムになりました。リリース後の１９７８年１月２３日、３２歳の誕生日の一週間前ですが、パーティーの後に、ふざけて弾が入っていないと思い込んだ銃をこめかみにあてて撃ってなくなりました。友だちに気をつけるように言われて弾倉が空であることを見せましたが、実は一発弾丸が残っていました。

●このアルバムは、１９７７年の４月から６月にかけて録音されて、１９７７年９月、アルバムリリースと同時に、ピーター・セテラが作曲して歌う『朝もやの二人』"Baby, What a Big Surprise"がシングルカットされて大ヒットしました。次にシングルカットされたのは、１９７８年１月、テリーキャスが歌う『愛しい我が子へ（リトル・ワン）』"Little One"でした。テリーキャスが亡くなった頃のリリースです。三曲めは１９７８年５月、ロバートラムが歌う『シカゴへ帰りたい』"Take Me Back to Chicago"です。

●シカゴは様々な見方で時代区分ができますが、Chicago XIは、ジェームズ・ウィリアム・ガルシオ　James William Guercioがプロデュースをした最後のアルバムでもあり、テリー・キャスのギターとボーカルが聴ける最後のアルバムで、これまでのシカゴの全盛期メンバーによる最高の到達点としてファンの間で最高に評価されている作品です。うちひしがれた日々を過ごしたメンバーは、スティーヴン・スティルスのバンドで、ギターとボーカルを担当していて曲も作っていったドニー・デイカスを迎えて次のアルバム"Hot Street"の制作に向かいました。

●１９７７年の録音としては、LPもとても豊かな音が記録されていますが、リマスタリングでさらに、豊かな音になっていて、ブラスセクションが、カミソリのようなパンチの効いた、フォルマントが豊かで艶やかな、奥行きのあるサウンドになっています。素晴らしい名曲の名演奏も、音がこもっていましたが、今回の最新リマスターイギリス盤で、本当にリアルな、メリハリのある、音がくっきりと定位して、迫力があり、歪みの少ない、素晴らしい音がよみがえりました。シンバルの音のリアルさや、ダイナミックさは、もちろんのこと、ピアノの音色には、驚かれると思います。ただ、このジャケットは、本当に薄い薄い紙ジャケで、日本のようなLP復刻の厚みのある紙ジャケではありませんので、紙ジャケではなく、音質本位でご検討ください。

●ストックラバーズ2003は、シカゴの全てのリマスターCDを出品しています。この紙ジャケシリーズは、クリックポストの場合２４枚まで同梱発送できます。

●正規盤で、密閉包装されています。ブックレットなどの封入物はありません。
