本書は、備前焼を代表する三人の巨匠 ― 金重陶陽（1896-1967）、藤原啓（1899-1983）、山本陶秀（1906-1994）― に焦点を当てた展覧会公式図録です。いずれも人間国宝に認定された陶芸家であり、現代備前焼の発展に大きな足跡を残しました。1991年に産経新聞社の主催で開催された「備前三巨匠展」に際し刊行されたもので、展覧会場で販売された一冊。
巻頭には河北倫明「備前三巨匠展によせて」、乾由明「備前陶芸三人の巨匠たち」といった評論・解説文が収められ、各作家の作品とその美術史的意義が端的に示されています。また陶歴・年譜、肖像写真、陶印・窯印が網羅され、研究や蒐集の参考となる内容です。
収録作品は茶碗、花入、香炉、茶入、酒器など茶陶を中心に構成され、備前焼特有の自然釉や窯変の妙を堪能できます。金重陶陽の端正な壺、藤原啓の重厚な茶碗、山本陶秀の繊細な花入など、三者三様の個性が明確に示され、

【ごあいさつ】

　日本の陶芸は、わが国独特の風土のなかで育まれてきた伝統芸術です。なかでも備前焼は、六古窯の一つとして、一千年の歴史をもつ最古の“焼き物”です。素朴ななかに、雅趣に富み、茶陶として多くの人々から親しまれています。

　このたび、備前陶ご三家の格別のご協力を得て、わが国ではじめての備前陶「人間国宝三巨匠展」を開催いたします。

　ご承知の通り、備前にはわが国陶芸界の最高峰として、三人の国指定重要無形文化財技術保持者（人間国宝）を生んでいます。

　桃山古備前の美を現代に再現した金重陶陽は、多岐にわたる創作活動のなかから、桃山の古格を秘めた最も芸術性高い名品を数多く発表しました。

　鎌倉古備前の伝統を現代に生かした藤原啓は、文人陶芸家として、形式美にとらわれない、独自の世界を確立し、詩的で、おおらかな、雅趣に富む秀品を生み出しています。

　一千年の伝統技法をふまえながら、茶陶に独特の境地を開いた山本陶秀は、ロクロ技術の最高峰として、現在ただひとり、なお壮健で制作に励げまれ“用と美”の作陶のなかから気品と高潔な作品を発表しています。

　本展は、三巨匠それぞれの原点をなした初期作品から晩年に至る名品百三十点を展観、備前に継承された伝統芸術の神髄とその多彩な軌跡をたどり、わが国陶芸界に果たされた輝かしい足跡を回顧するものです。

　本展の開催にあたり、貴重な作品をご出展くださいました所蔵家の皆様をはじめ金重家、藤原家、山本家のご三家ならびにご協力を賜りました関係各位の方々に厚くお礼申し上げます。

2. Leaking Iron Teapot: If an antique iron teapot is leaking, please take clear photos of the leaking area and provide them.
3. Transport Damage: If the goods are damaged during international shipping (to the pickup point), you need to provide photos of the outer packaging of the parcel and clear photos of the damaged goods' outer packaging.
